What I do recall was that I wanted to be around my mother and not my father. I wanted to help my mother in the kitchen, for example, but not my father in the yard or with the car. I remember playing dolls with my two older sisters. I even had my own Barbies. And I loved dressing -- and undressing -- them!
So I spent a lot of time with my mother and sisters doing "girlie" things like cooking, baking, laundry and other housework. But I must have liked it. No one was forcing me.
I also remember that I did not prefer boy sports like football, baseball and basketball. So I did not have a lot of male friends. I did however have a lot of girl friends in grade school. I was just more comfortable being around the girls.
